The settlements situated in high hilly region – Sepi, Chingma, Weteni, Dhimale, Muklabu and Gangawa – are at risk of landslide. Chair of the rural municipality, ward number 2, Deu Kumar Yonghang said landslide has started occurring in the area since Tuesday night following incessant rain.
The house of one Pahal Man Rai at Muklabu has been washed away and dozens of houses have been damaged by the landslide. According to the ward chair Yonghang, the locals of Muklabu have been searching for safe places since Tuesday night.
He said fourteen households from Chingma have reached Dundechaur in search of secure place. Cowsheds and cattle pens in the area have been wiped away by landslide. However, the exact details of the damage are not available.
The landslide has also caused damage to the Major Chingma Rabikhola Micro Hydropower Project operated in these settlements, disrupting the power supply in the area.
