The ministry confirmed death of a 21-year-old man of Kavrepalanchok district from the disease based on the report of the victim’s sample received on April 30 from Japan. The man, who was admitted to Shukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku on March 24 after he suffered from fever and cough. He died on March 29.
Following this incident, issuing a statement today, the ministry has asked concerned authorities to increase surveillances and stop the spread of the H5H1 avian influenza virus.
The ministry has also started cooperation in this regard with South East Asia Regional Office, the World Health Organization and Country Office for Nepal in line with the WHO provisions.
Cough, diarrhea, respiratory difficulties, fever, headache, muscle aches, malaise and runny nose are symptoms of the disease, said the statement.
