Kathmandu : The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has stopped purchase and sale of around 450 plots of land in Kathmandu valley. The ministry’s move, which follows the recommendations by a taskforce formed in this regard a week ago under the coordination of Bishwo Raj Marasini, chief of the Dillibazaar Land Revenue Office, aims to bring the public lands used by individuals or organisations under government’s control, said an official of the Ministry.
The lands prevented from sale and purchase have been found during a study registered in the name of individuals, industrialists and political leaders, said the Ministry’s secretary Gopi Nath Mainali. The taskforce submitted a report after investigating public lands at various places being used by individuals or organisations including the one at Lalita Niwas, Baluwatar.
The Ministry, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Central Investigation Bureau have been investigating the matter. The Ministry has said that the public land found to be used by individuals or organisations would be retrieved and those involved in it booked. RSS
