But every day she has to gather a courage to follow the routine as the home-to-market journey is a perilous one. There lies the Bheri River on the way to the market and it has no safe means of transportation.
Golabi Pun, Pathbir Pun, Tab Bahadur Gharti and Amar Pun are among dwellers of Thulabagar, Kharcha, Damsila, Bhitrakhola, Odara and Pali who have no way except to traveling through the unsafe means of transportation to reach the district headquarters Khalanga and the local market.
Gyan Bahadur Gharti, teacher at Srijana Basic School based in Aathbiskot municipality-14, said this is the common issue of 100 households residing in different places. The people of Pipalchaur, Chhotetara, Chhepare and Chakhlemela of West Rukum are left with no option to follow the same as of Hastakala.
They sit on a wooden basket made locally which suspends from the metal cable to cross the river. As locals said, they approached various bodies seeking help for constructing a bridge, but in vain. It takes at least one and half hour to walk up to the area where the bridge facility is available.
But before that, they have to travel through a risky cliff which has already claimed lives of some. The personal understanding of Thulabagar folks is that their voices fell on deaf ears because they have no political access and connection.
Nalgadh municipality mayor Tek Bahadur Rawal said the twines are operational in two points in the municipality. As he said, the local budget is not sufficient to construct the bridge. The local government has requested the federal government for the budget, but no response at all. RSS
