Dailekh : Excavation of petroleum methane gas is to be initiated from first week of May.
The methane gas excavation is to kick off with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vice President of China Geological Survey Wangkul and Director General of Department of Mines and Geology Somnath Sapkota in Beijing.
Earlier, Nepal government had undertaken research on petroleum products and declared its excavation in Shiristhan of Dailekh. The research was carried out before three years when the country was facing crisis of petroleum products due to trade embargo enforced by India.
It was shared that the Chinese team which was involved in the research of the methane gas had confirmed the availability of petroleum products in Dailekh. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during his second trip to China had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese Company on the gas excavation works.
Sudip Rajaure, project chief of Department of Mines and Geology, shared the excavation would begin from May 1, 2019. The agreement of Rs 2.2 billion was signed with the Chinese Company. RSS
