Kamalpokhari awaiting conservation

Dang : The Kamalpokhari Lake based in Tulsipur Sub-metropolis-6, Rajaura is now awaiting proper conservation.
Sometimes in the past, the blossoming of Lotus flowers covering the lake was very indeed a mind blowing view, drawing attraction of large number of tourists. But this is not the story with the lake now.
The lake having high tourism value has lost its beauty in lack of consistent conservation efforts. Most of the tourists visiting the panoramic place suggested for the improvement of infrastructure and conservation measures in maintaining its captivating beauty.
The lake that was originally spread over the area of one bigha land now is buried with pebbles, sand and wastes. Likewise, the spreading bushes have covered the lake, posing threat to the existence of the lake.
Locals have been protecting the lake but their efforts to develop it a tourism hub have not been materialised in lack of budget.

Govinda Prsad Rajaure, 70, a local social activist, who has been in the forefront of the conservation of the lake, called for efforts from all sides to develop the area as a touristic point. “Such natural lake is not available in any area of the district than Tulsipur. We can lure many tourists if its proper conservation is carried out with infrastructural development”, he said.
“The villagers are protecting the lake. But, there is no government effort to that end”, he added.
Likewise, Dilliraj Rajaure, 48, a local, said the lake has high potentials for fish keeping, boating and sight-seeing which could be a good source of income for the village.
Deepak Neupane, Chairperson of Kamalpokhari Tole Development Organization, said more visitors can be drawn to the lake if the infrastructures like wall and seating chairs and slaves are constructed around the lake as well as bushes are removed.

Meanwhile, Nawaraj Lamichhane, ward-6 chair, has pledged to lead the lake conservation initiative. He further informed that the ward is developing a master plan to develop the area as a tourism hub. RSS
