Bhaktapur : CPN Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said agro industry development would only materialise Nepal’s vision for prosperity.
Inaugurating the operation of Bhaktapur Vegetable Wholesale and Fruits Market at Gaththaghar in Bhaktapur today, Chair Dahal highlighted the imperative development of agriculture and agro industry. “Main base of Nepal’s prosperity is modernisation, diversification and commercialisation of agriculture. Country can be prospered only with the development of agriculture and its industry”, Dahal further said.
Pointing out the need of utilising science and technology for enhancing agro productivity, he said the country should lay emphasis on modernizing agriculture and utilising water, land and herbal resources.
Also speaking on the occasion, Minister for Agriculture Chakrapani Khanal shared that the government is preparing to promote agriculture market in five areas across the country by providing 50 percent subsidy to farmers in an effort to develop commercialisation of agriculture and management of market.
Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC) Director General Tek Bahadur Gurung said the Council has focused on undertaking diverse research on enhancing agriculture productivity and is also planning for promoting organic farming in the country.
Shyam Sundar Basnet, an entrepreneur from Bhaktapur, has set up the vegetable market at the investment of Rs 65 million. It has 130 shutters and 150 stalls. RSS
