‘Cardamom Zone Programme’ becoming effective in Bhojpur

Bhojpur : The Prime Minister Cardamom Zone Project launched in the district to promote cardamom farming with subsidy and technical assistance is becoming effective.

The project connects 98 farmers’ groups and agriculture farms to each others for better production. The programme is specifically farmers’- focused, said Zone acting chief Khir Prasad Rai. The project covers 30 wards at six levels out of nine in the district.

Farmers are happy to get cardamom saplings free of cost along with technical assistance. Project representatives are listening to their problems upon at their doorsteps and observing the progress of the project aimed to increase production.

Farmer Sitaram Luintel of Gogane of Temkemaiyung rural municipality-8 shared that they had been involved in this cash crops since past. With the implementation of the project targeting the settlement, he said they have benefitted very much from the programme, which he said has addressed the problems ranging from irrigation facility to pest. Cardamom farming spans 650 hectares of land in the district and it could expand to additional 1,000 hectares, it has been estimated. RSS
