NEPALGUNJ: Rani Talau Park has been restored to its fullest glory after 15 years of deterioration, after a 2.5 million restoration.

It has been brought into operation as a major tourist destination of the country. Dr Dhaval Samsher Rana, Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, said that the park was renovated for greenery with a purpose of increasing the beauty of town along with attracting tourists.

Boating and swinging facilities have been added in the rani pond park located at the heart of the city. Local Deepak Gupta said that local people are benefited from the operation of the park because there are hardly open spaces in the town.

After vacuum of elected representatives two decades ago, the municipal officials contracted for fish farming in the pond. After water dried in the pond, the pond was completely shut down for last some years.

After the local body elections in 2017, the park area has been renovated with greenery. Deep boring has been installed to fill water in the pond round the year, said mayor Rana.

According to him, children’s park is in southern part with teahouse and boating facilities. Rs 5 and Rs 25 is charged as entry fee in a bid to maintain sanitation and repair works at the park, said Surendra Gupta, chairman of Ward No 8. “About 200 persons including students and housewives visit the park every day.”
