Kathmandu : The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is sorting out the longstanding problem of its dumping site location, as the KMC is identifying the new location for waste disposal and management. The new site is likely to come into immediate effect from coming Friday.
According to information officer of KMC Basanta Acharya, the site for the short-term waste management would be identified adding that the KMC is working to fix the dumping site both for short term and long term.
The KMC has been managing solid waste garbage at Sisdol of Kakani Rural Municipality in Nuwakot district for the past 13 years now. The KMC is working to find out new locations since the site is already out of its capacity.
Currently, as much as 1200 metric tonnes of garbage is collected every day in the valley and 200 vehicles ferry the garbage to Sisdol. RSS
