NRA to hand over reconstruction work to local levels

Kathmandu : The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has decided to hand the reconstruction of the private houses damaged in the Gorkha Earthquake-2015 to the local levels.

Today’s meeting of the NRA Directorate Committee at Singhadurbar under the chair of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli decided to this effect. NRA’s district level office is as per the directive tasked with carrying out reconstruction, monitoring and verification.

Handing over the reconstruction work to the local levels follows election of local level representatives, said NRA’s Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali.

The meeting also decided to provide a grant to the landless squatters to build a new house. The district coordination committee recommends the landless squatters for the grant based on the verification from the local levels.

The NRA also decided to release the third tranche of a housing grant for all the quake survivors within the current fiscal year.

Likewise, the whole reconstruction would be reviewed, and future programme be set accordingly to accelerate the reconstruction, said Gyawali informing that the Finance Ministry has forwarded the proposal of a concessional loan of Rs 300,000 to each family affected by the quake, and it would come into action soon after a Cabinet endorsement. RSS
