Kathmandu– Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada here on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of building of Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ).
NEFEJ is constructing its office building in Bhandimandal, Lalitpur. Speaking at a function, Minister Khatiwada said that government is ready to collaborate with NEFEJ on policy matters for the protection of environment.
Minister Khatiwada further added that poverty eradication and environment protection are closely linked with other so that they should be addressed simultaneously. He pledged to provide necessary support for the construction of building.
Senior journalist Bhairab Risal said it gives him immense pleasure to become the witness of program. “The current funds available with NEFEJ are not sufficient to construct the building so I request government to provide 5 million financial assistances,” he said.
NEFEJ President President Kosmos Biswokarma appealed all concerned to contribute from side for the construction of building. “We plan to complete the construction of building within next 10 months,” he said.
General Secretary of NEFEJ Nimesh Regmi said dreams of constructing NEFEJ building is going to be materialized soon. “We are highlighting the issues of environment protection and sustainable development for the last three decades,” Regmi said.
Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) has signed a contract with two private companies P. C Builders and Suppliers PVT LTD and OM Buddha Engineering PVT.LTD for the constructions of its building in Bagodol, Lalitpur. These two companies jointly construct the building.
The agreement in this regard was signed on November 21, 2019. NEFEJ will pay the contractor the sum of NRs 15, 000, 000, 00 (Fifteen million Nepalese Rupees) for the construction of building.
On behalf of NEFEJ, President Kosmos Biswokarma, and Chandra Shekhar Karki, convener, Building Construction Committee have signed in the agreement. Similarly, Sunil Ghimire, Director of Om Buddha Engineering PVt. LTD; and Dipak Raj Nepal, Director of PC Builders and Suppliers PVT. LTD has signed the agreement.
