In the conference to last on October 23, goat experts from Nepal along with India, Pakistan, China, Cuba, the United States, Canada, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Indonesia, Bangladesh, France and Kenya are taking part. Prof Dr Sharada Thapaliya, programme coordinator, informed the conference that started with the main theme ‘Goats for food, nutrition and economic security in developing world’.
He further shared that the conference is aimed at contributing knowledge to establish the Scientific Goat Keeping Model National Research and Resource Centre at Agriculture and Forestry University, Rampur. Group discussion would be held on various themes including PPR disease on goats and its preventive measures in the conference.
As many as 115 working papers would be presented and discussed in the conference, shared Dr NIrajan Bhattarai, member-secretary of the conference. Among the key themes of the paper presentation include goat as a source of food and economic security in the developing world , goat production policies, socio-economics, and value chain development, goat husbandry management, goat feeding and nutrition management, phenomics, genomics and biotechnology for enhanced goat production, health management and disease control and advancement in goat product processing, Bhattarai informed.
