Team coordinator Birendra Basnet informed that the Ministry of Forests and Environment has mobilized the team for the study of endangered species of wildlife and other potential tourism places in Dolpa, Jumla and Jajarkot as well.
The team comprises sociologists, wildlife experts, botanists, and tourism and culture experts. In addition to onsite visit, the experts will hold discussion and interaction with local people and governments, and civil society to garner information and knowledge on the pressing issues of the study.
It is said for lack of investment and study of ample natural resources in Karnali, the development potential here is yet to be unlocked. After the team identifies special areas, they would be protected.
Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet informed that Karnali is the goldmine, which will be utilized for the region’s development. Making publicity of lakes and parks is equally essential, he pointed out the need, adding that capitalizing Karnali resources would change the identity of the region by freeing it from poverty and backwardness.
