They have ceased to use the resources of drinking water since the diarrhoea continue to spread in the locality due to consumption of contaminated water. The outbreak grew to be an epidemic within a week as the water supply to the Dajakot became polluted.
12-year-old Resham Sinjali, a sixth grader at the Pashupati Lower Secondary School in the locality, died of diarrhoea on Saturday. As many as 192 patients infected with diarrrhoea were treated at the temporary health camp as of today, according to health camp coordinator DB GC.
The epidemic was coming under control, said the health workers. Moreover, the sample of the water from the local water source, taps and tanks were collected and sent for further examination, informed coordinator GC.
A team of the World Health Organization is scheduled to conduct an awareness programmme in the locality among the locals as well as health workers and women volunteers on Monday. RSS
