Pokhara : Minister for Forests and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet on Saturday emphasised preservation and management of wetlands. “There is a need to conserve natural heritage for multiple purposes and for this, collective efforts are required,” he said while speaking at an interaction programme with the theme of ‘Wetlands and Climate Change’ organised here by the Ministry on World Wetlands Day.
He also said the government was at work to make laws, acts and policies in regard to the preservation of natural heritage. “With the formulation of laws, the government will come up with long term plans for development activities,” he shared.
On the occasion, Minister of Gandaki Province for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Bikas Lamsal said the provincial government has prioritised preservation and protection of all lakes including the ones listed on Ramsar site and water resources.
Also, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Man Bahadur GC stressed the need for collective efforts to preserve lakes. RSS
