Kathmandu : The Birds Conservation Nepal has awarded two organisations in recognition to their activeness and contribution to the conservation and preservation of birds and biodiversity.
Jajarkot-based Chandra Surya Youth Club and Kathmandu-based Shivapuri Nature Guide Association received the BCN award carrying a cash prize of Rs 100 thousand each. Similarly, two students Sharmila Sigdel and Bharat Prasad Chaulagain have been conferred on the Vulture Fellowship carrying a purse of Rs 30,000 and certificate for the research on the endangered species of vulture.
Likewise, Creative Bird Watching Club Chair S Maharjan, environment protection campaigners Chungba Sherpa, Umanga Jung Thapa and Basanta Raj Mishra were offered the status of BCN’s conservation member.
National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department Deputy Director Gopal Prakash Bhattarai, BCN President Rajendra Gurung, department’s former director general Shyam Sundar Bajimaya, WWF Nepal Representative Ghanshyam Guring and IUCN (The International Union for Conservation of Nature) Nepal’s Representative Prahlad Thapa presented their views on vivid aspects related to bird conservation.
