Dhangadhi : MoUs have been signed between Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and six Partner Municipalities of Sudurpaschim Province.
The partner municipalities include the Suklaphata Municipality, Chure Rural Municipality, Baddikedar Rural Municipality, Dagodakedar Rural Municipality, Bithadchir Rural Municipality and Kedarseu Rural Municipality.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Minister Mr Pathan Singh Bohora, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development of Sudurpaschim Province.
The AEPC stated in a press release today that the signing parties have agreed to work together for improving the energy situations and access to reliable, affordable and modern energy in the partnering municipalities of Sudurpaschim Province. The signing parties will enter into a long-term partnership contributing to the overall goal of improving living conditions and livelihoods in the rural areas through improved energy services, promoting entrepreneurship, creating micro-infrastructure, and formation of social and financial capital that ultimately leads to poverty reduction.
For doing so, AEPC with support of RERA will provide technical support to the Sudurpaschim Province and partnering municipalities in terms of capacity building and implementation of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) activities for promoting rural energy systems at the community level.
The support will also facilitate partnerships with community-based organizations, private sector, non-governmental organizations in order to provide energy at affordable level, meeting basic quality standards, and maximizing use of energy for income generation, it is stated.
Renewable Energy for Rural Areas (RERA) is a joint technical support programme by the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). RERA is jointly implemented by AEPC and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. BMZ contributes EUR 5 million for the period of 3 years (October 2016-September 2019) to RERA.
Through this partnership, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and the partner municipalities aims to provide equitable justice to the people under their jurisdiction focusing to provide better access to resources at all level. The partnership is dedicated to the people of Sudurpaschim Province to provide clean energy as a basic right in line to the essence of constitution of Nepal. RSS
