New projects to keep Janakpur clean

KATHMANDU: Janakpurdham, the temporary capital of Province 2, will be clean within two years if the present plan goes as planned.

Bidya Nath Bhattarai, chief of Project management Office, Kathmandu signed on memorandum of understanding on the Janakpurdham Sanitation and Ponds Promotion Project.

The project includes sanitation of 31 ponds and promotion while Barha Bigha Rangbhumi Sports Ground will be developed as an international stadium. Similarly, 30 public toilets will be constructed in Janakpurdham.

The government is preparing to precede the works of the project in the current fiscal year. About 150,000 people will benefit from the project. The estimated project cos is Rs 1.2 billion excluding VAT. After competition of the project, it will be handed over to Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City for operation and maintenance, according to the MoU.
