‘Agri-infrastructures true base for prosperity’

Lumbini : Chief Minister of Province No. 5 Shankar Pokharel has said that agriculture, tourism, industry and trade are the foundation of prosperity in the province.

At a programme organized in Bhairahawa on Tuesday, Pokharel said that the province government was working with the mission of ‘prosperous province, happy people’ adding that more emphasis would be given to agriculture, tourism, industry and trade.

He was of the view that modernization, marketing and commercialization of agriculture was needed to link up the unemployed laborious youth in agricultural products to unveil the self-employment programmes. “29 per cent people in this province are under absolute poverty. We will reduce it to 10 per cent by running programme of poverty alleviation under the rural development programme,” CM Pokharel said.

In the three-day appreciative inquiry conference, Lindsey Godwin of Cooperrider Centre for Appreciative Inquiry would facilitate the programme as the lead facilitator.

Former Chief Secretary Damodar Gautam and Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising are supposed to present their working papers while politicians from different political parties would deliver their speeches in the event. RSS
