Kathmandu– Pottery is an ancient profession of Bhaktapur which is still in existence.
The landscape of pottery profession, however, is changing. Most of the young generations are shifting in other professions due to the lack of low income. A public square full of potter’s wheels and rows of clay pots drying in the sun. All the clay pots are kept in the squares for a roast in the sun. Clay piggy banks are the most produced product here.
This is the centre of Bhaktapur’s ceramic industry. There are hardly any clay items that you cannot find in Bhaktapur’s pottery squares. Pictures: Amish Regmi
