Hydel projects under basket fund to be developed thru competition

Kathmandu : In a bid to provide an impetus to the construction of hydro power projects in the country to be built under the Basket Fund and thereby enabling a healthy competition among them, the Directives on Licensing of Hydro Power Projects-2075 has put in place pragmatic and encouraging provisions for the development of hydro power projects.

The hydro power projects whose feasibility study has been conducted could be constructed at their own cost, the organizations under their company or in foreign aid. Furthermore, the hydel projects whose survey license were scrapped or the application submitted to obtain production license were rejected or the hydel whose feasibility study being conducted could be continued to construct.

The projects under the Basket Fund could be construction as per the government’s decision or through other means through competition.

For the feasibility study, the concerned authority should pay Rs 1 million for the project with a capacity of1 to 5 megawatt, Rs 2 million for the 5 to10 megawatt project, Rs 3 million for the 10 to 25 megawatt project, Rs 8 million for 25 to 100 megawatt, Rs 100 million for 100 to 500 megawatt and above Rs 100 million for the project above 500 megawatt. The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation had issued the Directives on October 23. It has also scrapped the Directives on Licensing Hydro Power Projetcs-2072. RSS
