Kathmandu : Minister for Forests and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet has clarified that there was no misunderstanding between his Ministry and Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation regarding the construction of International Airport at Nijgadh of Bara district.
Speaking in a programme organized by National Trust for Nature Conservation on the occasion of National Nature Conservation day today in Lalitpur district, Minister said that the both Ministries had the same understanding over the issue. He added that the airport should have constructed at any cost as it was the need of the nation.
Minister Basnet added that he was alert over the controversy on felling of thousands of trees for the development of the proposed full-fledged international airport at Nijgadh.
It is stated that the Ministry is working out to carry out compensatory plantation of trees to lessen environmental degradation there.
