Those littering more should be taxed more, suggests Minister Pandit

Bhaktapur : Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit has said that citizens littering the environment by dumping waste haphazardly should be identified and taxed more as fine.

He said this while addressing a ‘bulletin launching programme’ organised on the occasion of the 30th week of the Hanumante River Cleaning campaign and the 80th week of the Manohara River Cleaning campaign, here today.

Calling on the local governments to decrease the tax limit, the Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister, he opined for charging maximum tax on those people polluting the environment by throwing litter everywhere and causing obstruction to making Nepal clean and beautiful.

He also stressed on the need of sending out the message to the rest of the world that Nepal is a beautiful as well as a clean and green country.

MP Mahesh Basnet also expressed his views on the occasion.

It was shared at the programme that so far 309 tonnes of waste was collected from the Hanumante river.

35 metric tonnes waste managed in Kathmandu Valley today 
Meanwhile, 35 metric tonnes of waste was managed in course of the cleaning of the rivers and the Ring Road area in Kathmandu Valley today.

The cleaning was carried out as part of the 280th week of the Bagmati Cleaning Mega Campaign, the 235th week of the Rudramati Cleaning Campaign,the 80th week of the Manohara River Cleaning Campaign and the 76th week of the Ring Road cleaning.

Waste and litter was removed at various stretches of the main rivers and different places along the Ring Road in the Kathmandu Valley today as part of the cleaning drive. RSS
