Kathmandu : The Ministry of Water Supply, in a bid to ensure smooth water supply to those families with water woes, has sprung into action to collect the details of the households having to spend more than half an hour to fetch drinking water.
The Ministry, upon collecting the details of such families, will moot plans accordingly to ensure that every citizen has access to safe drinking water without having to toil harder or walk farther to fetch this vital liquid.
The constitution of Nepal guarantees citizens’ right to clean and safe drinking water and sanitation as a fundamental right.
Minister for Water Supply Beena Magar said that the latest move of the Ministry was aimed at adding relief to those families who have to wait or walk more than half an hour to fetch drinking water.
The details collection of such families will be conducted throughout the country, in all seven provinces and all 753 local units, according to Minister Magar.
She said that the latest move was made by the Ministry keeping in mind those housemakers who have to travel hours to fetch drinking water.
The Ministry has launched free toll number -16600142111-for those families to report to the Ministry of their water woes, according to the Ministry of Water Supply.
Also, the Ministry has held discussions with the Ministers of Physical Infrastructures and Secretaries in all provinces for the effective implementation of the plans and programmes to ensure clean drinking water to one and all.
Minister Magar clarified that the drinking water projects were forwarded in such a way that there will not be any misunderstanding between the provincial and federal government. RSS
