Probe team formed on poisoning of drinking water

Urlabari, Morang : The District Police Office here has formed a five-member probe team under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nishan Thapa, to investigate the poisoning of drinking water of a school tank, which resulted in the sickness of 28 students.

As many as 28 students of Shree Secondary School at Jante in Letang Municipality-9 fell sick after drinking the water contaminated with pesticide. The drinking water in the school tank was polluted with pesticide.

Superintendent of Police in Morang, Manoj Kumar KC, informed that team was formed to investigate the incident, so that the facts behind the incident would be revealed and the culprits brought to book.

The team has reached the school and began investigation. Meanwhile, during the special house of the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, lawmaker Ghanashyam Khatiwada demanded the government to immediately probe the incident and take action against the culprit.

Among the students fallen sick after the intake of the poisoned water, Khusbu Mishra, Shristi Niraula, Kamala Limbu and Manish Thapa have been receiving treatment at Nobel Hopital, Biratnagar, while others left for home after treatment at Mangalbare Hospital. The pesticide named ‘cyprin’ was mixed in the school’s drinking water tank.
