Kathmandu – A three-day International Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction concluded today with the adoption of Kathmandu Declaration.
The conference attended by over 200 DRR experts representing 12 countries of the world concluded with the formulation of an action plan in keeping with the priorities of global framework for disaster risk reduction.
The framework has laid high emphasis on making further effective the coordination among the government, non-government and scientific research organizations.
The conference has come up with a conclusion emphasizing the need to manage disaster risks, assess disaster-induced risks and lower risks through rescue and reconstruction measures.
It has also stressed on the prioritization and implementation of works by developing a new 15-year programme for disaster risk reduction. It has also prioritized on allocating at least five percent budget for DRR.
The event was jointly organized by the National Reconstruction Authority, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and National Society of Earthquake Technology (NSET) under the leadership of Ministry of Home. RSS
