Clean Environment Mega Campaign begins

Kathmandu- Speaker of House of Representative Krishna Bahadur Mahara inaugurated the ‘Clean Environment Mega Campaign-2075’ at the initiative of Ministry of Forests and Environment on Wednesday.

With the World Environment Day approaching, Speaker Mahara inaugurated the mega campaign by sweeping the roads at Shankhapark in Kathmandu.
On the occasion, he said, to build a clean environment we should all start the initiative of cleanliness from an individual level, which will then gradually institutionalise. Adding that the goal could not be achieved without developing and implementing policies and plans, Mahara urged to make the campaign successful by focusing on implementation.

Similarly, Minister for Forests and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet said, sanitation was not only the responsibility of government but of all people. He said that the trend of blaming the government after throwing garbage out of the houses should be brought to an end.

Minister Basnet said, “The garbage thrown on the roads of the capital city will be cleaned through Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the amount spent for this activity would be charged from those throwing the garbage on the roads.”

The campaign that began from Shankhapark passed through different places including Bishalnagar, Dhumbarahi, Peepalbot, and concluded after again reaching Shankhapark. Mahara, Minister Basnet, secretary and employees of the Ministry, security personnel, employees of KMC and general public were present on the occasion. RSS
