Kathmandu- A government committee has recommended scrapping agreement signed with China Three Gorges Corporation for the construction of West Seti Hydropower Project.
The committee made such recommendations after delay and preconditions put forth by Chinese company to start the construction of West-Seti. The committee has provided two options: scrapping the pact or providing second chance by slashing its installed capacity.
Government has formed a seven-member committee headed by Secretary at Prime Minister’s office to suggest ways to resolve the problems related to West Seti.
The memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to develop the 750-megawatt west Seti Hydropower Project in 2012.
