This year’s NEFEJ environmental journalism award goes to Yam Bam

Kathmandu- On the occasion of World Environment Day which is celebrated on June 5 every year, Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists provides Environment Journalism Award to journalists. The Forum has decided to give this award to Journalist Yam Bam this year.

The award was given to Yam Bam for the year 2019. Bam, who has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Rural Development, is the 33rd journalist to have received this award. He is currently working for Nepal Weekly. NEFEJ has been providing this award to journalists for the past three decades. Along with this award, the forum also provides NPR 25,000 and a certificate.

NEFEJ gives this award to journalists every year on the occasion of its annual day.

NEFEJ had formed a committee including Past President and Senior Journalist Tirtha Koirala as the coordinator, Past General Secretary and Journalist Badri Poudyal and Expert Member/ Environment Expert Batu Krishna Upreti for the selection process. The committee had requested journalists to send in their print and broadcast news stories of 2019 for the application process. After studying all the print and video stories, the committee decided to give the award to journalist Bam this year.
