Kathmandu – The maximum utilization of land has been accorded priority in the land-related act. Speaking at an interaction programme organised by the Reporters’ Club here today, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal said the concept of a land bank was brought to cultivate arable land left largely barren. Under this concept, landowners could deposit uncultivated land for a certain time in the bank and interested people or group could use it on a lease.
International practices will be adopted to operate the bank, according to the minister. She went on to say that help of satellite and other scientific technologies would be sought to know about the status of land. As the minister said a software has been developed in regard with land archive information system for the protection of government and public land.
“Efforts are underway from the diplomatic level to search for the missing border pillars towards the south,” the minister said. More, homework had begun to make the cooperative sector more transparent and systematic in the days to come. The minister shared the government policy of integrating 50 percent cooperatives by the next five years. RSS
