Right now, we are near Rapti bridge. We met a man named Chandra Bahahdur Kamal on the way to Gadhwa where there is the main road to cross Rapti in Simarhwa.
We asked him whether there were issues of land cutting in this place. He replied that the land cutting had started from the far away area to where they were standing.
Furthermore, he added that the river would flow from there previously too but nowadays it also flows from settlement areas. He explained that the river erodes the water of the paddy farm these days.
Life associated with water
We took an interview with a person who had just gone for grazing. We asked him what he had learned from it. He told us that he had learned not to create fire in the forest, not to kill fishes by poisoning and to knit damlo while taking out cattle for grazing. He also told us that he also raises hens for poultry farming. When we asked why was it not good to kill fishes by poisoning he told us that when he put poison to kill fishes, the frogs had also died.
Home, family and community associated with life
When Kalapani was drowning, it killed cattle, destroyed homes and a person also died.
It rained a lot and we could not sleep for the whole night. We were worried about the floods as we had nowhere else to go. We did not eat for the whole day.
